USMLE Rx Review
USMLE Rx is an online learning platform which is based off of the widely known First Aid Text books. The resource is very popular among medical students especially when it comes to studying for the dreaded USMLE step exams. But just how good of a resource is USMLE Rx? In this article I will be giving an objective review of USMLE Rx and let you know whether I think it is a resource worth purchasing.
What are the Main Features of USMLE Rx?
The platform includes various study resources, including question banks, flashcards, and video lectures. I would say the most useful of these features is the question banks given that the questions are directly based off another popular resource which is the first aid textbook. Other features include Rx Bricks which are basically short modules which summarize important topics into a more simplified and digestible format. At the end of these short modules are a few short multiple choice questions that test to make sure you have a basic conceptual understanding of the material. Bricks also include tables, diagrams and illustrations which can be whited out and used as labeling quizzes.
Other key features on USMLE Rx include flashcards, 1-3 minute long “express” videos which provide students with a summarized video version of an important topic. These Express videos simplify more difficult concepts (ie: cardiac arrythmias, and the cardiac conduction cycle) through things like drawings and diagrams, and may clarify or highlight the most important takeaway in a given topic.
Pros
The question banks themselves have a number of important features which I myself find very useful. These include:
-the ability to create custom quizzes which allows you to use up to 100 questions per session
-The testing system gives users the ability to search up keywords on a topic you are weak on and then create a quiz session based off these topics.
-Users are able to pause the exam and then come back to it at a later time
-users can choose to take custom quizzes as either timed or tutor mode
Cons
-The platform does not allow you to restart exams and do them over again
-The questions sometimes tend to be on the easier side and dont necessarily reflect the difficulty of the USMLE exam
-The website tends to crash a lot..
How Much does USMLE Rx cost?
The cost of USMLE Rx varies depending on the product and subscription length. Here are the current prices for each of the products:
- Rx360+: Prices start at $379 for a 6-month subscription, $449 for a 12-month subscription, and $499 for a 24-month subscription.
- Rx Bricks: Prices start at $99 for a 6-month subscription, $149 for a 12-month subscription, and $199 for a 24-month subscription.
- Rx Bricks Express: Prices start at $59 for a 6-month subscription, $89 for a 12-month subscription, and $119 for a 24-month subscription.
USMLE Rx also offers discounts for students who purchase multiple products or subscribe for longer periods of time. In addition, the platform occasionally offers promotional discounts or coupon codes.
It’s worth noting that the prices listed above are subject to change, and it’s always a good idea to check the USMLE Rx website for the most up-to-date pricing information.
Is USMLE Rx worth it?
Overall I would say yes, USMLE Rx is worth it. Even though the questions may not always reflect the difficulty of the USMLE exam. The resource can help you identify your weaknesses and also contains many axillary study study tools such as Flashcards and express videos.
