Medical Anatomy is an online anatomy course on Udemy meant for students and healthcare professionals which provides comprehensive lessons on each body system. In this article I will be giving an objective review of this course.

Who is this Course for?

While the website states that the course Is mainly for pre meds, medical students and other healthcare professionals, the course can also be useful for those who have no prior background in learning anatomy. 

Is Medical Anatomy a Difficult Course?

The way the course is designed is that it starts out with basic concepts such as learning basic anatomy terminology and then slowly goes into the more advanced topics.

How Much Does Medical Anatomy Review Cost?

It Cost $44.99

What is taught in the course:

The course is divided into 6 major parts which are

  1. Introduction and Anatomical Terminology
  2. The Back
  3. The Upper Limbs
  4. The Thorax and Abdomen
  5. The Lower Limbs
  6. The Central Nervous System

Pros:

  • The course contains an organized outline of each lesson plan. This is helpful for orienting your brain to what you will be learning
  • course is taught through video making it a good option if you like audio and visual learning as opposed to one or the other
  • Short quizzes embedded in the video lessons keep the course interactive
  • the lessons are easy to follow
  • Can be accessed from mobile devices
  • You earn a certificate of completion at the conclusion of the course

Cons:

  • the course cannot be used as credit for college course
  • does not cover a lot of other anatomical sciences such radiology
  • I think that the course could do a better job of covering some of the vasculature in the lessons of the Lower Limbs. While this section does well to cover the musculuture as well as the skeletal muscles, it does not 

Alternatives to the Medical Anatomy Course

There are many alternatives to this course. if you are a student looking for a more comprehensive anatomy course then I would strongly reccommend Anatomy Bootcamp which contains more videos, over thousands of practice questions that are both application based as well as identification/memorization based, and also has different TAs teaching a different organ system. You can read more about Anatomy Bootcamp here

How should students use the Medical Anatomy course ? 

This is a good resource to use in conjunction with another more comprehensive resource from your school curriculum. Because the total duration of the course is only 3.5 hours I don’t thnik it would be a good idea to rely solely on this course if you are trying to learn anatomy to pass a school exam or some kind of standardized test.

Do I need Medical Training to take the Medical Course?

No medical training is required to take the course. All you need is a fluid understanding of English, a macbook or PC computer that can play audio and video files

  • This course is video intensive, please have video plugins installed on your browswer
  • Udemy has excellent free apps to learn wherever you are! It’s recommended (but certainly not required) that you use them
  • Students must have a fluent/advanced command of the English language

Is Medical Anatomy course Worth it?

Yes I do think that it is worth it, but I also think that it is important to use this course as a supplement to your main coursework in whichever school or University that you attend. However, if you are beginner that wants to start learning about anatomy, but are not enrolled in any anatomy course in school then this course might be a great place to start
