Best Headphones for Students
One of the most underrated resource for students at any level are headphones. it seems like every year there are another pair of high tech headphones hitting the market. Students could benefit from using them, however Students often do not know which ones are best for them, or whether or not they even need them to begin with. Which headphones are best for students? in this article I will be going over which headphones are best for students as well as which headphones I would buy If I only had one choice.
Which Headphones is best for Students?
Choosing the correct headphones comes down to a few things. First you need to ask: is it noise blocking or is it noise cancelling?
The other thing you need to take into account is how long the battery lasts for. And the final thing you need to assess is whether or not the headphones are affordable or not.
Are Headphones Good For Students?
Because sitting in a quiet library, may not always be possible, headphones eliminate the issue of not having a quiet study place available. Nothing is worse than running around looking for a quiet place to sit down and concentrate on your work, and not being able to find such an environment.
Additionally headphones allow you to listen to information in public without disturbing those around you.
However not all headphones are created equal, and not even headphone will benefit students in the same away.
Do Noise Cancelling Headphones Help You Study?
Noise Cancelling Headphones reduce unwanted noise in the background. They create an environment that is conducive for maintaining focus for a long period of time without any noise or unwanted distractions. This enables getting into a state of deep work.
Normal headphones do not block sound to the same capacity that noise cancelling headphones do. They provide a slight noise blocking effect but only due to the material of the headphones themselves. As a medical student I find that noise cancelling headphones allow me to focus more on my thoughts as well any problem that I am trying to solve.

- These are some of the most high quality headphones on the market. These headphones consists of a simple design and are wearable over the head with the ability to adjust the tightness.
- The leather ear padding provide a very comfortable wearing experience
- Very durable (mine have lasted more than 2 years). However the only caveat to this is while the exterior tends to last very long, the padding on the inside tends to deteriorate overtime. Luckily. however you can easily purchase replacement padding on Amazon for relatively cheap.
- The best features are that it has 3 levels of noise cancellation, balanced audio at volume, and the bluetooth pairing is simple and not overly complicated.
- For Medical Students who like to study in coffee shops or even study lounges where there are other people these are ideal because once you out them on, the outside noise is virtually non existent. Additionally you do not have to worry about others around you picking up any of the audio that is coming from the headphones.
Bose Soundlink
Price:
These cost $149.00
Overview:
In terms of ability to noise block These are not quite as good as the Quiet comfort 35 model however these still do a good job of blocking ambient sound. Where these ones stand out is how good the durability is. From my own point fo view, I have been using the same pair of sound link since 2017. Similar to the Quiet comfort 35, the padding on these tends to deteriorate overtime. However, this is not a huge issue because you can purchase replacement padding for cheap online.
Additionally these have a battery life of about 10 hours.
Which Headphones would I buy
As you can see, there are many great options for choosing which Headphones to buy. However if it were me, I would pick the Soundcore Space Q45. Reason being is the ability to adapt based on your environment. Additionally the price is extremely affordable.
For example if you wanted to purchase the other noise cancelling headphones on this list which are the Bose Q45, these cost over $300.00. The Soundlink Headphones made from Bose while they are cheaper are not noise cancelling. While the Soundlink do provide good durability long term, it is really hard to compete with a product such as the Soundcore Space Q45s which have noise cancelling features and cost a fraction of what standard noise cancelling headphones.
