Posted on May 4, 2022November 21, 2022 by Eric Mubang
Anatomy is one of the most difficult subjects to learn during the pre clerkship phase of medical school. It requires understanding structures in 3 dimensions as well as understanding their function and clinical importance. Although difficult to master it is by no means impossible to learn and be successful at. Which tools and resources are out there that can help students be successful in this course? One such tool that is quickly becoming popular is Anatomy Bootcamp, which is a learning platform that contains video lesson plans, cadaver images as well as a comprehensive question bank. Is Anatomy Bootcamp something that medical students should purchase? Fortunately, I have used and tested Anatomy Bootcamp, so in this article I will be giving an objective review on it.

Tagging the question in this way allows you to efficiently and systematically review the topics you are less in strong in and spend less time on topics which you have mastered or are very strong in
Other subjects in Anatomy Bootcamp
Within the medical Bootcamp section there is a foundational courses and also a preclinical 1st year section. The foundational courses section contains other courses such as Histology, and embryology. Additionally there are sections which underneath the preclinical section which contains questions from other disciplines such as physiology and pathology.
Anatomy bootcamp Video Lesson Plans
Within Anatomy Bootcamp there are short 5–10 minute video lectures on each topic. These videos go over notes which can be found in a PDF document at the beginning of every lesson plan.
Anatomy Bootcamp Question Bank
Anatomy Bootcamp contains a question bank containing single line multiple choice questions. These questions fall into two categories which are either Application based or Identification based questions.
The Question bank quizzes you on the real life cadavers. Each Cadaver image includes labels which can be shown or hidden. These images can be seen in the Gross Anatomy section. Within the Question bank, the cadaver images are what students are tested on as part of both the Application type Questions as well as the Identification Questions
The question bank is extremely robust. For every anatomy region you could count on their being anywhere from 50–100 questions (and sometimes more) questions for both the Application based questions as well as the identification based questions. As far as sheer quantity there are few other resources that provide this many questions. This is definitely a bonus because it provides ample opportunity for practice.
Another cool thing about the Question Bank is the answer explanations. The answer explanations not only give you a clear and detailed explanations, they also point you to the exact video in the lesson plan where the information in the question stem was talked about. This provides an extra layer of convenience and helps to facilitate a more efficient study session. If you want to learn more about Anatomy Bootcamp Question bank you can watch the short video that I made below
In this video I walk through the Anatomy Bootcamp Question Bank and other parts of the learning platform
Medical School Bootcamp
The Medical School Bootcamp section contains other subjects needed for the pre clerkship such as histology, embryology, physiology and pathology. What makes this a very neat section is the level of organisation. Each subject such as physiology has specific videos that go along which each topic discussed within that subject. Directly after these videos are short quizzes to test your understanding. This is added convenience and prevents users from having to go down a rabbit hole of trying to search through the website to look for questions that are relevant to the video that you just watched. Additionally, the notes from all of the videos can be downloaded in PDF form and watched alongside each video.
What should be improved about Anatomy Bootcamp
I truly believe thighs is one of the best resources. In general I think to make this resource comprehensive it should include an atlas of radiological images. In general however, This is an area where many question banks fall short and I think is differently a huge hole in the world of medical education
The other area where I think This resources falls short is the lack of step 2 questions. Most of the questions are geared toward mastery of the pre-clincial sciences, and lacks many of the question types you might see on wards or on step 2. In all fairness however, The Anatomy Bootcamp Company does not really market itself as a step 2 resource, but rather moreso as a resource to be used in the pre clinical years
Should you buy Anatomy Bootcamp
This is definitely worth purchasing. There are few other resources out there that provide the same level of quality. In terms of sheer question number as well as having actual cadaver images Anatomy Bootcamp seems to be number 1 in these categories by far. Additional the product has a lot of versatility. For example, the practice practical exams can help you ace your practicals during your pre clerkship. he Application type questions can also help you do well on your boards as these questions are a bit more involved similar to how the USMLE questions are.
Personally I plan to continue using this product for my surgery rotations where understanding Anatomy is crucial for success. If you plan on using Anatomy Bootcamp simply click below.
