Geekyquiz.com Question Bank Review

Geekyquiz.com is a branch of the main website called geekymedics.com. This is a UK based website which includes a variety of medical questions which have all been peer reviewed by medical students and doctors. The question sets which are most beneficial to medical students are the free community based questions and the medical student finals question set.

 pros

As far as being able to filter questions, the platform allows you to create questions based on either topic, clinical  symptom and specialty if you purchase the medical school finals pack. Additionally the medical school finals question pack allows you to include tags in the search bar when you are creating a quiz which provides an even extra layer of filtering capability.

The community  based questions which are free of charge include topics classified under anatomy, basic sciences, as well as clinical sciences. This is the extent to which users are able to filter with the free options which I would say is the major limitation of the free questions.

One of the best features of this question bank is that it tracks your progress over time, and it tells you how you are performing overall on the question banks based on the amount you got right out of all questions answered. Additionally it utilizes spaced repletion and tells you which questions that you need to review and when to review them.

As far as pricing goes Geeky Quizzes are very affordable for US based medical students as the medical school finals pack is only $15.00 for a span of 12 months. Out of all of the known question banks on the market currently this is the lowest priced option.

Cons

Because the creators are still working on creating new questions, they are lacking in a few subject areas which other more established question banks. There are certain topics where you have type the name in the search section your custom quiz may only show that they have only a handful of questions available if any at all. For instance if you type in something like Respiratory Synctial virus, the name will appear under search but you will see that they currently do not have any questions on this topic.

Is it worth the money?

Yes, I do believe that it is worth money. It is the cheapest one that I know of other than the ones that are for free. Students should be aware that this is a UK based learning platform when looking for a question bank to help them prepare for USMLE exams. It might be worth it to purchase a question bank with a larger volume and which is more focused on USMLE style questions. Geekyquizzes however does have utility in terms of helping pass basic science in the preclinical years of medical school.
